Week 22--Open My Home and Heart in Hospitality (Caring for Others)

Scripture: Romans 12:13 – “Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”

Caring for others means more than being friendly—it means opening our hearts, homes, and lives to meet the needs of others with genuine love. Biblical hospitality is not centered on impressing people or receiving something in return. It is about reflecting the heart of Christ by caring for the welfare of those who are struggling, overlooked, or lacking life’s necessities.

Jesus emphasized this in Luke 14:12–14 when He taught that true generosity is shown by giving to those who cannot repay us. Anyone can give when there is benefit in return, but Christ calls His followers to love selflessly—to feed the hungry, welcome the lonely, support the hurting, and care for those in need simply because they matter to God.

Hospitality is an expression of the kingdom of heaven. It reveals a spirit that values people over possessions and compassion over convenience. When we freely share our time, resources, encouragement, or space with others, we demonstrate the true love of Christ. In God’s kingdom, it truly is more blessed to give than to receive.

Today, ask God to help you notice someone who may need kindness, support, or welcome. A meal, a conversation, an invitation, or practical help may become a powerful reminder of God’s love in their life.

Prayer:
Lord, give me a generous heart that reflects Your love. Help me to care for the needs of others with sincerity and compassion, expecting nothing in return. Teach me to practice true hospitality and demonstrate the love of Christ in all I do. Amen.
