Week #28--God Entrusts Us with His Creation (Caring for Nature)

Scripture: Genesis 2:15 – “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”

Last week we discovered that the earth belongs to God. This week we discover something just as important: God has entrusted it to us.

Long before sin entered the world, God gave humanity a sacred responsibility—to cultivate and care for His creation. Adam's first assignment was not simply to enjoy the beauty of the garden, but to faithfully steward what belonged to God. Caring for creation was one of humanity's first acts of worship.

Stewardship begins with a simple question: "How should I care for something that belongs to God?" We naturally treat valuable things with greater respect, especially when they belong to someone we deeply love. In the same way, every tree, river, mountain, flower, and landscape deserves our care because it reflects the handiwork of our Creator.

As we care for God's creation, creation blesses us in return. Healthy forests give us clean air. Healthy soil provides food. Flowing rivers bring life. Quiet places renew our minds and draw our hearts toward God. When we faithfully care for what God has entrusted to us, we experience the blessings of living in harmony with His design.

Stewardship is far more than protecting the environment—it is honoring the Creator. Every thoughtful choice we make declares, "Lord, I recognize that this world belongs to You, and I want to care for it in a way that reflects my love for You."

Today, ask yourself, "How can I better care for what God has entrusted to me?" Whether it is planting, preserving, cleaning, conserving, or simply appreciating His creation, let every act become an expression of gratitude and worship.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for trusting me with Your creation. Help me to be a faithful steward of the world You have made. Teach me to care for the earth with wisdom, gratitude, and reverence, knowing that every act of stewardship is an opportunity to worship You. May the way I care for Your creation reflect the love I have for You. Amen.
